Copenhagen: from pro-bike to anti-car

Stop (driving)

Stop (driving)

The Globe and Mail has a story today about transportation planning in Copenhagen.  While most city planners in North America are trying to give cyclists a little more room on the roads (without infuriating those delicate and oh-so-important motorists), Copenhagen is actively discouraging commuting by car.  The best way to get people on their bikes is to make commuting by car unbearable, according to Andreas Rohl, Copenhagen’s Bicycle Program Manager.

In related news, even North America’s Copenhagen (Portland) could do with fewer douched-out SUV drivers.
