Local Heroes: Ottawa City Councillors Demand Investment in Bicycle Infrastructure

Ohh...artsy.

Two city councillors in Ottawa, our sleepy capital city best known for frigid winters and Beaver Tails, are pushing for a big investment in the city’s bicycle infrastructure.  The local heroes are Councillor Maria McRae and Councillor Christine Leadman. If you see either of these two women out-and-about, be sure to take them to the Manx and buy them a pint of Beau’s.

According to the Ottawa Citizen, they are asking for a $16.7 million investment in 2010 to increase the number of bicycle paths and bike lanes in the city.  You’ll be pleased to know that the article ends with the requisite reference to Portland.
