Gothamist is reporting a 26% increase in bicycle commuting over the past year, which is a huge jump for any city.  This increase coincides with the creation of almost 200 miles of new bicycle paths throughout the city over the past 3 years.  Since 2002, the number of bicycle commuters has doubled.   While not all bike lanes are ideal, well-planned infrastructure can work wonders.

More, please.
